Course Description: The Heartsaver CPR Course is a course that teaches lay rescuers how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children. The program is divided into three different courses, providing choices.
Heartsaver CPR for All Ages: This course teaches CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction in the adult, infant and child.
Heartsaver CPR for Adults: This course teaches CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for the adult.
Heartsaver CPR for Infants and Children: This course teaches CPR and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for infants (birth to 1 year of age) and children (1 year to 8 years of age).
Course Length
All ages: approximately 3 hours.
Adult only: 2 ˝ hours.
Infant/child only: 2 hours.
Intended Audience: All lay rescuers, such as employees in the workplace, day care employees, babysitters, firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other lay rescuers, and those who may have a need to respond to an emergency
Heartsaver AED Course Description
Course Description: The Heartsaver AED Course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use an AED. Students also learn about using barrier devices in CPR and giving first aid for choking. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest and foreign-body airway obstruction.
Course Length: 2 hours
Intended Audience: Responders such as police, airline personnel, security personnel, corporate employees, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other rescuers, and those who need or want to learn CPR and how to operate an AED.
Heartsaver AED with Pediatric CPR Course
Course Description: The Heartsaver AED with Pediatric CPR Course teaches the basic techniques of adult CPR and use of an AED. Pediatric CPR skills may be taught if students live or work in a setting where children are present. Students also learn to use barrier devices in CPR and give first aid for choking for responsive adult, child and infant victims. The course teaches how to recognize the signs of four major emergencies: heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest and choking.
Course Length: 3 hours

The Heartsaver First Aid Course provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical minutes immediately following an emergency until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. The course also provides corporations with a complete health and safety training solution for First Aid, CPR and AED.
The Heartsaver First Aid Course has been developed using the same evidence-based process as all American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care courses.
Course Description: The Heartsaver First Aid Course teaches rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult or pediatric emergencies in the critical first minutes until emergency medical services personnel arrive. The course also provides a complete health and safety training solution for first aid, adult CPR and AED.
Course Length: 3 - 4 hours
Intended Audience: Persons assigned to respond to emergencies in the workplace, community, or schools, as well as those who want to learn first aid, CPR and AED skills. Some rescuers are required to take this course as part of their employer's efforts to comply with OSHA regulations, e.g., corporate employees, security guards, airline personnel, lifeguards and other individuals who want or need first aid training. The pediatric course meets the guidelines for schools and day-care centers.
Heartsaver CPR in Schools Course
Course Description: The Heartsaver CPR in Schools course teaches both adult and pediatric lay rescuer CPR to middle or high school students. The course presents information about the American Heart Association adult and infant/child Chain of Survival, and signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke, and choking in adults. The course also covers signs of choking in infants and children, prevention of sudden infant death syndrome, and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children.
Course Length: 2 - 3 hours
Intended Audience: Middle and high school aged students
CPR for Family and Friends Awareness Course
Course Description: The CPR for Family and Friends awareness program is modular and teaches rescuers skills in CPR and relief of choking (foreign-body airway obstruction). It presents information about the American Heart Association adult Chain of Survival and signs of heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and choking in adults. The course also presents information on the American Heart Association pediatric infant and child Chain of Survival, signs of choking in infants and children, how to reduce risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and prevention of the most common fatal injuries in infants and children.
Course Length
All ages: 2 hours
Adult: 1 hours
Infant and child: 1 1˝ hours
Intended Audience: All lay rescuers, such as schoolchildren, family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death, and other laypersons who want to learn rescue skills for loved ones.
